In Phoenix, timing matters for pool resurfacing. While we work year-round, certain seasons offer advantages that can affect both the quality of your finish and your family's swimming schedule.
Best Season: Fall & Winter (October - March)
This is the ideal window for Phoenix pool resurfacing:
- Better curing conditions: Cooler temperatures (60-80°F) allow finishes to cure properly without heat stress
- No swimming downtime: You won't miss prime swimming season
- Easier scheduling: Less demand means more flexibility
- Lower water costs: Cooler weather means less evaporation during fill
Spring (April - May)
A good secondary option:
- Weather is still mild for proper curing
- Pool will be ready for summer swimming
- Higher demand - book early
Summer (June - September)
Possible but challenging:
- Heat concerns: Extreme temperatures (110°F+) can affect curing
- Monsoon delays: Rain can interrupt the project
- Miss swimming season: 1-2 weeks without your pool during peak heat
- Early morning work: Crews often start at 5-6 AM to beat the heat
We do resurface pools in summer with proper precautions, but recommend planning for fall if possible.
Signs It's Time to Resurface
Don't wait for complete failure. Watch for these indicators:
- Rough texture: Surface feels like sandpaper
- Visible staining: Discoloration that won't clean off
- Etching: Pitting or crater-like marks
- Cracks: Structural cracks (not just surface crazing)
- Delamination: Surface flaking or peeling
- Age: Plaster over 10 years, aggregate over 15 years
Planning Ahead
For the best experience:
- Get estimates in summer - We're less busy and can spend more time with you
- Schedule for fall - Book your October-December spot early
- Budget properly - Know your costs before the busy season
Emergency Resurfacing
Sometimes you can't wait for ideal timing. If your pool has:
- Major structural cracks causing water loss
- Severe delamination creating safety hazards
- Surface so rough it's causing injuries
We'll work with you to get it done safely regardless of season.
